US Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)

SBIR Grants fund a diverse portfolio of startups and small businesses across technology areas and markets to stimulate technological innovation, meet federal research and development (R&D) needs, and increase commercialization to turn R&D into impact.

National Grid’s Manufacturing Productivity Program

The Manufacturing Productivity Program (MPP) provides matching grants, based on costs incurred by eligible applicants, whose top management commits resources to “lean manufacturing” projects or manufacturing assistance projects that result in eliminating waste and increasing productivity. The program also provides matching grants for growth-targeted activities that result in greater utilization of manufacturing capacity and for projects that combine and coordinate productivity and growth activities described above. 

Workforce Development Institute

WDI works regionally to identify targeted strategies that address workforce challenges, trends, and opportunities. They offer grants to manufacturers who invest in their workers, funding equipment to offset training costs. 

Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)

CFDA’s and New York City Economic Development Corporation’s Fashion Manufacturing Initiative (FMI) include the FMI Grant Fund and the Production Directory. In 2019, the FMI expanded to become a $14 million public-private partnership with a comprehensive suite of programs to address the ever-changing needs of fashion manufacturers.

Fuzehub Manufacturing Grants

Fuzehub’s Manufacturing Grants are designed to encourage collaboration between not-for-profit organizations in New York State and small-to-medium size companies that work at any stage of development within the manufacturing industry. The cross-sector partnership serves as a pathway for technology transfer, adoption and implementation of new manufacturing processes, as well as the creation of enhanced products and services. 

Build 4 Scale

Fuzehub’s Build 4 Scale program equips hardware innovators across sectors with the information and support they need to create in order to create manufacturing-ready product designs, avoid common mistakes that lead to costly rework, and effectively partner with contract manufacturers. The suite of support services include grants, new product development, a community of support, events, and more for businesses of any size that are developing a new product or technology across cleantech, medical, agriculture, biomedical, industrial, consumer, defense, or other industries.

ITAC

ITAC is the manufacturing extension partnership (MEP) for manufacturers in the New York City area.  ITAC provides consulting services to support NYC manufacturers through growth, optimization, innovation, and more.

Build4Scale Self Assessment 

Build4Scale’s Self Assessment tool helps manufacturers and startups assess where their new products and prototypes are in the manufacturing readiness spectrum.

The Cerasis Rater 

The Cerasis Rater, now part of GlobalTranz, is a web-based transportation management system that allows shippers to do the following from their smartphone: rate a less-than-truckload freight shipment; track freight shipment for real-time visibility; view the last seven days of mobility at a glance; view a shipper’s dedicated Cerasis Account Team contact information, among other services.

Co-Pilot Android App

The Co-Pilot Android mobile app is an online logistics tool employed in international shipping and offers mapping and direction routing facilitates navigation through online tracking of vehicles for efficiency. The application also helps truck drivers follow efficient routes to avoid traffic and other obstacles that can delay deliveries. The app also gives dynamic information of the various navigation routes such as truck height and weight to ensure navigation in designated routes.

The Business Health Assessment is a tool from ITAC and Manufacturer’s Edge to assist in organizational strategic alignment. It is a deliberate design process that enables organizations to achieve their strategy, objectives, and metrics.

NYSERDA Flexible Technical Assistance (FlexTech)

Completing a building energy study helps identify and evaluate opportunities to reduce energy costs and incorporate clean energy into a business’s capital planning. The FlexTech program shares the cost to produce an objective, site-specific, and targeted study on how best to implement clean energy and/or energy efficiency technologies. Through December 21st, 2021, the program will offer up to 100% study cost share for eligible participants.

NYSERDA Small Commercial Energy Assessments

NYSERDA’s Small Commercial Energy Assessments provide free energy assessments to small businesses and not-for-profit customers to help them make informed energy decisions and implement energy-efficiency strategies. Assessments help identify economically viable improvements that yield substantial annual energy savings. An eligible business must have 10 employees or less and an average annual electric demand of 100kW or less.

DOE Better Plants Programs

The US Department of Energy’s Better Plants Program provides businesses with helpful tools and resources to overcome barriers and identify opportunities to save energy. Through the program, partners receive support from Technical Account Managers who help facilities develop energy management plans, identify energy-saving opportunities, and track energy performance metrics. In addition to technical guidance, Better Plants partners have access to free tools and software, on-site In-Plant Trainings on various energy savings topics, access to technical assistance programs, and more.  

Industrial Assessment Centers

The Department of Energy’s Industrial Assessment Centers provide no-cost energy assessments for businesses. Teams at 31 universities around the country conduct the energy audits to identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and save energy. The IAC for New York State is located at Syracuse University.

NYC Clean Trucks Program

The NYC Clean Trucks Program is a rebate incentive funding program to reduce diesel exhaust emissions by replacing older, heavy polluting diesel trucks to transition away from older diesel vehicles to cleaner models, including new battery electric, diesel-electric, and plug-in hybrid electric. $12,000 up to $185,000 is available per truck replacement, depending on fuel type and truck class size. NYCCTP is an initiative offered by the NYC Department of Transportation. Email NYCCTP@tetratech.com with specific questions.

Con Edison PowerReady Program

Con Edison offers incentives that will offset up to 100% of the electric infrastructure costs associated with installing chargers and charging stations for electric vehicles. Businesses and properties may be eligible for incentives when installing Level 2 and/or direct current fast-charging chargers for light-duty vehicles. Public fast-charging sites and multi-family level 2 sites in certain areas are eligible for a higher incentive level. PowerReady builds upon the NYC CTP program to expand charging infrastructure.

Onupkeep offers a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) service, providing software that stores data about maintenance performed on equipment, machinery, and other assets, eliminating the need for manual spreadsheets and consolidating maintenance data in one place. 

Scandit 

Scandit provides a mobile online logistics tool for international supply chain management. It extends advanced barcode scanning to inventory managers, processing imperfect and hard-to-reach barcodes, and facilitates data sharing across platforms and online networks.

The Service Max mobile app combines the integration of service contracts, management of orders, workforce optimization, and monitoring of social media customers. It builds an end-to-end service organization view of business-client relationships to help businesses assess service quality and customer feedback.

MTConnect

MTConnect offers a standardized semantic vocabulary for manufacturing equipment to provide structured, contextualized data with no proprietary format. With uniform data on machine tools, production equipment, sensors and sensor controllers, and other factory hardware, businesses are able to focus on working with developers and integrators to provide productive manufacturing applications such as machine visibility and connectivity and process optimization, rather than translating between systems.
